Private / Group / Adult Lessons

Dates –Opportunity for day lessons / weekends should our sets not fit your schedule. Just e-mail in. If you are not able to attend all lessons, please email and we will do our best to subsidize rate. 

Wednesdays- June 7th, 14th, 21th & 28th – 5:30 – 7:30pm – Max 6 Adults – $375 per sailor

Thursdays – July 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th – 5:30 – 7:30pm – Max 6 Adults – $375 per sailor

Tuesdays – Aug 15th & 22nd – 5:30 – 7:30pm – Max 6 Adults – $185 per sailor

*10% Discount for those who already completed a set.

Our goal is to have enough adults who have completed sets that we can create a drop in night for you to come and work on your skills, practice and improve!

Registration goes live March 1st. More dates to be added.

What are private/group lessons and what can I expect? 

The Squamish Yacht Club offers a variety of formats based on instructor availability and limited beginner conditions (aka it’s windy in Squamish!). We like to make sure we are choosing a time where you will thrive, not just survive.

We post lesson blocks, usually consisting of a set 4 x 2 hour sessions OR you can shoot us an e-mail with your preferred availability and we will do our best to cater to your schedule.

We suggest a 0 to hero set which consists of 4 x 2h sessions scheduled according to your availability. You could do this by yourself, with just your partner, friends, family or open to anyone else.

The lessons are in RS Zests aka small dinghies. You can fit two adults  in one boat and eventually graduate to your own boats (usually after 1-2 lessons).

We will have you tacking upwind, running downwind and comfortably maneuvering the boat while understanding simple safety skills such as docking, stopping and capsizing.

From there , it’s all practice! You can then keep taking dinghy lessons or jump on one of our race nights. Learning the basics in a dinghy is best as you get a feel for what is happening and everything translates to a larger yacht.

Or you can move on to keel boats where someone at the club is currently running lesson sets!
